Dr. Lorraine Hohenforst named
BOCES assistant superintendent
Dr.
Lorraine G. (Sleezer) Hohenforst has been selected to serve as assistant
superintendent of HFM BOCES. Her appointment was
effective March 1, 2007.
Dr.
Hohenforst is an 18-year veteran of the BOCES, beginning service
in 1989 as an administrative assistant for finance. She was
promoted to the position of coordinator of staff and curriculum
development, and later named coordinator of Instructional
Services. In that capacity, she also served as the State
Education Department’s regional certification officer,
overseeing the certification of teachers and professional staff
in the region.
Dr.
Hohenforst was born and raised locally, a graduate of Johnstown
High School and valedictorian of Fulton-Montgomery Community
College’s Class of 1978. She went on to earn her Doctorate in
Educational Administration from the University at Albany, and
earned a Bachelors and three Masters Degrees from the College of
Saint Rose in the interim.
She
began her professional career in 1980 as a high school business
teacher, only four years after she graduated from Johnstown High
School.
The
assistant superintendent is responsible for instructional
programming at the BOCES, and serves as a consultant in matters
of instruction to 15 component school districts. She replaces
Dominick Baggetta, who retired in December following an
extraordinary career in the region, serving as assistant
superintendent in Gloversville and superintendent of the
Wheelerville Union Free School District before arriving at
BOCES.
Dr.
Hohenforst is married, with an adult son, and resides in Perth.
Dr.
Hohenforst is the daughter of Arlene Sleezer of Johnstown and
the late Ralph Sleezer.
