Professional development courses scheduled for 2007-08

Focus is on integrating technology into teaching, ELA scoring
and helping to foster professional learning communities

The HFM BOCES is offering a new slate of professional development workshops for the 2007-08 school year.

Some of these learning opportunities are designed to help teachers integrate technology into their teaching methods, including Introduction to Web Page Development, Internet Resources for Grade 3-5 Classroom Teachers, and Making Math Exciting with Excel for Grades 2-5.

Also being offered are courses to help teachers prepare for and score the New York State English Language Arts assessment tests. Participants will review test design and scoring rubrics, and will practice scoring using materials from the 2006-07 tests.

HFM BOCES is also helping to foster professional learning communities in which teachers from the 15 component districts can discuss grade-level trends, instruction strategies and best practices.

Unless otherwise noted, the workshops are free of charge to all teachers in HFM BOCES and its 15 component school districts.

Additional workshops and training opportunities are being scheduled for the 2007-08 school year.

This information will be posted as soon as it is available. If you have any questions, you may call Stacy Ward at (518) 736-4360.
