A wide variety of tests and assessments
are utilized to help participants learn more about their
vocational interests, skills and abilities. For a list of
assessments available,

Student Services: The goal of this service is to assist
students age 13-21, their parents and teachers with an
exploration of potential career choices for the students.
Through the use of assessment tools, the staff helps students
identify their strengths and interests as they relate to future
career choices. The HFM BOCES Career Assessment
Unit provides assistance in meeting the
New York State requirements for a
Level I Career Assessment. A Level II assessment is available
through referral from your CSE. A level II assessment offers
standardized testing based on individual need and may include
testing related to job interests, perceptual skills, motor
dexterity/speed/coordination, a vocational aptitude profile, and
learning style. Results are considered based on their
relationship to employment outcomes. For a Career Assessment
referral form,

Services: The HFM BOCES Career Assessment unit contracts
with
VESID to provide specialized vocational evaluations for
adults who are referred by their rehabilitation counselor. The
specialized vocational evaluation is individualized based upon
the unique needs of each referral. A combination of assessments
are utilized to help individuals learn more about their
vocational interests and strengths. Testing in the areas of
academic achievement, vocational interests, aptitudes and
abilities, sensory/motor skills and learning styles are
available.
Transition: Technical assistance is
available in the area of transition to assist districts to
prioritize needs and develop strategies to assist them in
achieving their goals. HFM BOCES staff work closely with the
Eastern Transition Coordination Site to provide consultation and
technical assistance to districts.
