The Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program prepares students
for the rewarding field of nursing. Because of the nationwide
shortage of nurses, jobs are plentiful and average salaries are
in the range of $30,000 per year.
Interested students should have an 80 percent average, completed
Biology and maintained excellent attendance. In addition,
students must be scheduled to take the required LPN pre-test. To
register for this test, call 736-4340. If the test
results predict success in the LPN Program, an interview with
both student and parent will be scheduled.
Through an articulation agreement, students who successfully
complete the LPN Program may be eligible to transfer credit to
the Registered Nursing (RN) Program at F-MCC.
Students learn various aspects of patient care. After completing
a minimum of 1,200 hours of instruction and clinical experience,
students can take the New York State Licensed Practical Nursing
Examination. Clinical experiences are obtained at local health
care facilities.
