Construction Technology is a two-year New
York State certified program that prepares students for career
opportunities in Carpentry or Electrical construction trades.
First year students will be introduced to
core classes covering blueprint reading, safety, basic hand and
power tools, and basic estimating. Students then rotate through
hands-on laboratory modules of carpentry and residential
electric.
Second-year students will specialize in
one of the two trades in which they choose, including knowledge
of tools, materials, methods and their applications for either
construction or electrical.
Second-year students also have the
opportunity for an internship with local contractors and
work-study programs.
Upon graduation, students may receive up
to one year of apprenticeship training credit in the Carpenters
or Electrical Union. This curriculum meets the NYS Department of
Labor and National Construction Curriculum Education and
Research (NCCER) Apprenticeship training requirements.
