A:  Students should exhibit positive school attendance and conduct at their home schools, while remaining in good academic standing. Some CTC programs may require additional application criteria. Please review with your home school guidance counselor for details.

Q:  If students attend the CTC, can they participate in activities at their home school?

A:  Yes, students attending the CTC are eligible to participate at their home school in extra-curricular activities, including athletics, clubs/organizations, and band/chorus.

Q:  Are students required to have prior training/experience in the career field of their CTC program before enrolling?

A:  No, however, the students should express a sincere interest in the career path they have selected for their CTC program.

Q:  What is the schedule for the CTC?

A:  Students are provided transportation from their home schools to the CTC.  First-year students (juniors) attend from 9-11:15 a.m.; second-year students (seniors) attend from 12 noon-2:15 p.m. Students complete their core credit requirements at their home schools. The CTC offers core academic courses, as well as some integrated academics, for students experiencing scheduling conflicts in their home schools.

Q:  How does the CTC prepare students for the future?

A:  While attending the CTC, students earn confidence and competence in developing their skills in specific career fields. Many CTC programs have eligibility (articulation) agreements with colleges to earn college credit.  Approximately 50 percent of our students planned to continue their education in college following their successful CTC experience. A similar percentage of our students are prepared to immediately enter the workforce or a career in the military.

Q:  How do students enroll in the Career and Technical Center?

A:  Each year, from November through January, the CTC staff and current students visit the sophomore classes in each of the Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery schools to share program information with the students. Following these presentations, the CTC staff organizes visitations for each school to bring interested students to view and participate in programs at the Career and Technical Center.  Students interested in attending CTC programs will meet with their home school guidance counselors and complete the enrollment process by mid-March. Additional requests following this scheduling process will be handled on a first-request basis.
