HFM BOCES 2012-15 Professional Development Plan

Three goals have been established for the 2012-15 Professional Development Plan for HFM BOCES staff. These include:

• HFM BOCES staff will implement the NYS Common Core Learning Standards and will develop and implement appropriate strategies to address student academic and career development needs.

• HFM BOCES staff will develop and implement strategies that foster positive student social behaviors and attitudes that enable learning, including staff training to prevent school violence.

• Division-specific goals, which may include integrating the use of technology to enhance learning, as well as improving communication within BOCES.

	Providing support services to 15 component school districts

	Instructional Services Tracy Kent, Coordinator Phone: (518) 736-4360 FAX: (518) 736-4361 E-mail: tkent@hfmboces.org HFM BOCES Instructional Services provides school districts with support and training in the areas of curriculum, instruction and assessment as they strive to meet state and local goals for raising academic standards. Component school personnel are instrumental in designing the programs that are offered. Training for specific needs can be delivered at a component school district or at the main HFM BOCES campus, 2755 State Highway 67, Johnstown NY, 12095. We offer the following services: • Arts in Education (New forms rev. 1/4/2012) • Curriculum Development (New - Project-based learning resources) • Data Analysis • Exploratory Enrichment (Rev. 1/4/2012) • Regional Certification Office • School Improvement • Staff Development

	Educational Support Services HFM BOCES provides a variety of support services to further improve the learning environment for students. • Distance Learning • Instructional Resource Center • Itinerant Services • School Library System

	Management Support Services For school district to provide excellent academic programs, they sometimes need assistance in carrying out routine operations, management and training. The following services have been developed at the request of school districts: • Communications Service • Health-Safety-Risk Management • Substitute Calling Services

	Regional Special Education Technical Assistance Support Center (RSE-TASC) Paula Mroz, Administrative Coordinator/Special Education School Improvement Specialist (SESIS) Phone: (518) 736-4354 FAX: (518) 736-4359 Address: 2755 State Highway 67, Johnstown NY 12095 Locally staffed under the direction of Special Education School Improvement Specialist Paula Mroz, RSE-TASC is part of a statewide network that provides resources, information, consultation, coaching and staff development related to the education of students with disabilities. The HFM BOCES RSE-TASC SESIS works with districts in the three-county region designated by NYSED's Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) as needing assistance or improvement in one or more areas of the State Performance Plan Indicators.
